ZHAW Sabbaticals

Markus Mellohis an experienced and accomplishedOrthopaedicSurgeon and Rheumatologist. Currently he is a professor of Public Health and the Director of the Institute of Health and Science at the ZHAW university.

Sven Hirsch is a trained physicist, specialized in image processing and the application of statistical models and machine learning to medical research. Currently he teaches Modelling of complex systems and heads the Biomedical Simulation lab at the ZHAW university.

Both Professors are co-directors of the Digital Health Lab which brings together a variety of digital health activities and combines the competence fields of technology, healthcare and business within the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.

Why India?

The goal of this mini sabbatical was to identify partners and startupsin India, to collaborate in the field of digital health, as well as to meet fellow scientists to discuss  common research interests.

What has been achieved?

Through their curated meetings in Bangalore and Delhi, Markus and Sven succeeded in connecting ZHAW with premier Indian institutes. Plans are in progress to conduct a workshop in Zurich and  for joint research projects.
