Collaborations and Visits Facilitated

swissnex India connects the dots between Switzerland and India by
• Facilitating collaborations between Swiss and Indian institutions of higher education & research
• Promoting Swiss higher education and research in India
• Acting as the information hub on developments in science, technology & education landscape in India & Switzerland

Over the last five years, we have enabled a number of academic collaborations & successful delegation visits. Here is an overview of our recent success stories –

HEAD Geneva – NID – In 2016, National Institute of Design (NID), Bangalore and HEAD-Geneva were connected by swissnex India for game and interactive design collaborations. The two institutions signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) whereby, a workshop will be held at NID by HEAD-Geneva faculty in November 2016. NID faculty will in turn visit HEAD Geneva early next year.

HEP VaudChrist University – HEP Vaud did a one-week tour of India (Bangalore, Mysore, Kuppam and Pondicherry) to meet with potential academic partners for their ‘Namaste program’. swissnex India identified potential Indian institutions for collaboration for the touring delegation. In April 2016, HEP Vaud signed a MoU with Christ University, Bangalore for the Namaste program. Swiss students from the program will visit India from 22nd August – 2nd September 2016.

ZHdKBangalore School of Music – We facilitated the visit of faculty & students from the School of Music, Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2014 for an exchange with Bangalore School of Music. In January 2016, both the institutes signed an agreement to initiate an online course aimed at advanced training in western classical music for teachers at Bangalore School of Music.

HEC LausanneIIM Kolkata & IIM Ahmedabad – HEC Lausanne signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Indian Institute of Management Kolkata and Ahmedabad (IIM Kolkata and IIM Ahmedabad) for student and faculty exchanges. HEC Ambassador, Sebastien Bianchi, working as a shared intern at swissnex India (Feb – July 2015), enabled the process.

University of Zurich – National Center for Biological Sciences (NCBS) – In 2014, swissnex India supported University of Zurich (UZH) in organizing a 3-day conference in Bangalore in collaboration with the National Center for Biological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science and Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research. A 16 member delegation from UZH participated in the conference. In 2015, NCBS and UZH signed a memorandum of understanding for joint research and faculty/researcher exchange.

NIMHANSSwiss TPH – swissnex India supported the organization of a joint workshop and symposium on ‘Films for Health’ between NIMHANS and Swiss TPH in 2014. The joint events resulted in signing of a MoU in November 2014 for joint research projects and curriculum development of NIMHANS courses in psychiatric social work.

Haute école d’ingénierie et d’architecture, Fribourg – R V College of Architecture, Bangalore – swissnex India supported HES-SO to sign an MoU with R V College of Architecture, Bangalore in 2013 on student exchange at bachelors and masters levels.

ZHAWChrist University – swissnex India has supported faculty members of Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) since 2012, when we organized a one-week exposure tour for the faculty members from six different schools of ZHAW. In 2013, ZHAW school of Social Work took the lead in signing a faculty and student exchange agreement with Christ University Bangalore. From 2015 onward, winter school is organized by ZHAW for its students at Christ University. Students of Christ University, in turn, visit ZHAW for a semester exchange program.
