Swiss startup launches in India, makes posting letters simpler

The Zurich based startup, Pingen, is entering the Indian market with its revolutionary Hybrid Post offering.

Pingen.com is a cloud based solution to send electronic documents as postal letters. Since launching in late 2012, the startup established itself as market leader in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. With the expansion to India their solution becomes available in Asia. The startup secured the knowhow of an experienced executive to establish the Delhi branch and lead the local business development. “With Gaurav Mata we managed to convince an expert with more than 20 years of output management experience for our solution. Before starting at Pingen, Gaurav Mata used to work in leading positions at Xerox, CMS Info Systems and Bowe Systec” Pingen-CEO Sandro Kunz comments.

Launching in India is a major milestone for the Swiss based startup. With the different business culture and the geographical distance, Pingen sees the Indian market as the ideal opportunity to kick off their accelerated international expansion. “Having access to an experienced advisory team and the market validation offering of swissnex India in Bangalore proved to be crucial in our market entry preparation.” Sandro Kunz recalls.

The startup aims to attract local customers to handle their letter based mail outs to Indian recipients.

Unlike in Europe, neither the post nor private companies are offering Hybrid Post solutions to automatically send letters in India. “Consequently, we see a great potential for Pingen”, Sandro Kunz explains. In a next step the focus will be on international mailings. Here the startup is working on a collaboration with a global logistics company. Once an agreement has been reached, Pingen aims to significantly reduce the international shipping prices. In addition, the startup is also seeking strategic partnerships with logistics and postal companies. “Our solution is ideally suited to launch additional countries by establishing white label implementations together with local partners. Next to strengthening our position as market leader in D-A-CH our goal for 2016 is to further internationalize our solution.” Sandro Kunz notes.
