The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and its partners are inviting persons with disabilities, designers, engineers, humanitarians and entrepreneurs to join forces in the ‘Enable Makeathon’ and develop affordable assistive devices for persons with disabilities living in rural areas. swissnex India will invite Swiss experts in engineering, design, robotics, mechatronics and other associate fields to mentor the selected participating groups during the Makeathon.

Business Bootcamp & Maker Days – 18 – 21 December 2015
Experts from Cybathlon will mentor the second leg of the Makeathon.
Dario Wyss is head of local logistics in the CYBATHLON core organisational team. He is mainly in charge of competition
infrastructure (course elements, timekeeping), ensuring complete accessibility in the arena for people with disabilities and organisation of hands-on demonstrations to sensitize spectators to common issues for those with disabilities.
Dario received his M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich. His research interests are focused on the development of robotic devices for gait rehabilitation and control strategies to promote motor learning.
Dario Wyss
Born in 1988 in Ferrara, Italy, Raffaele Ranzani receeived his B .Sc. in
Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa and his M.Sc.
degree in Robotics, Systems and Control from ETH Zurich. During his studies, he worked at HOCOMA on the design of "assist-as-needed" control strategies for the ArmeoPower, and at the SMS Lab, ETH Zurich, on the control of active knee prosthetic.
Currently, he is the Head of the Discipline for Powered Leg Prosthesis in Cybathlon 2016 and is working on the design of haptic devices for hand rehabilitation.

After an apprenticeship as joiner, Tom studied industrial design at ZHdK, the Zurich University of Arts from 1997-2001. He is currently a Project Manager and Product Designer at TRIBECRAFT, a swiss company specialized in innovation, design and development. He and TRIBECRAFT are closely connected with educational institutions such as ZHdK and ETH Zurich via guest lectures, research projects and mentorships. Tom’s special fields of interest include amongst others: co-creation, interaction design and generative methods.

Born in Geneva, Yves Corminboeuf trained in interior design in Geneva and industrial design at ECAL - Ecole Cantonale d'Art of Lausanne. He was awarded the SID Prize and Swiss Design Prize for his diploma work. In 2003, he opened his own design studio Cycoe in Geneva. Since then, his work has been set in the field of contemporary and sustainable design. His designs comprise furniture, set design and products for private and public clients.
Since 2005, he is also working as a Professor at HEAD (Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design de Genève).
