The Academia-Industry Training (AIT) is a joint initiative of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), Switzerland and Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. AIT aims to support scientists in transforming their high-level applied research into market application and discovering their entrepreneurial potential. By connecting scientists from top institutions in Switzerland and India, the program promotes an international network and enables access to one of the most promising markets and intellectual capitals in applied research.

The program is mandated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) to ZHAW ‘Leading House’. It is co-organized with venturelab, swissnex India, Department of Science and Technology (DST), SINE IIT Bombay.

Objective

  • Promoting the researchers’ contacts & collaboration with the industry in order to promote the market application of their high-level research.
  • Providing tools, information and contacts for promising researchers from the two countries (Switzerland, and India) with an entrepreneurial spirit and an idea to bringing their research into the market and becoming entrepreneurs, as well as networking among them to foster new partnerships and collaborations, as well as with potential funding partners.

Alice's project idea is to design a new method for testing new drug molecules and investigating their efficiency prior to advancing towards clinical trials. The system would be based on single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) fluorescence microscopy and integrated into microfluidic chip technology to create a lab-on-chip device.

Bruno's research is a low-cost device to analyse milk samples and get information such as substances rate, traces of antibiotics, and zoonosis. The data is processed by an online platform, offering a cheap big data solution to keep improvements on our machine learning algorithms to predict future diseases in advance.
