Geeks on fire!
By Cyrille Planner, 14 March 2013
In the last week of February, HasGeek organized the Meta Refresh Conference on web UI engineering. For two days, 16 speakers had the opportunity to introduce their work to an enthusiastic audience. Being an outsider to the web-world, I was a little skeptical whether I would be able to sit through 16 hours of geek-talk. Ten minutes into the conference, I found myself attentively listening to – and even enjoying – the first speaker’s presentation. The following talks turned out to be just as interesting, as the excellent speakers shared their personal experiences, challenged the participators with convenient and inconvenient designs of well-known websites and encouraged interaction.
As a co-sponsor of the conference, swissnex India invited Zeno Crivelli, co-founder of the Swiss Start-up jillion.com, to present his work on HTML5 video. Despite catching a cold on his way to Bangalore, Mr. Crivelli managed not only to charm the crowd with his Swiss-Italian accent but also give a fascinating talk and therefore earn highly positive feedback. It was a pleasure to see Tech professionals, entrepreneurs and investors interact during the coffee breaks while enjoying the muffins offered by swissnex India
Overall, the conference turned out to be a huge success and I would like to thank HasGeek on behalf of swissnex India for organizing the event so efficiently as well as inviting passionate and excellent speakers.
